This course provides students with the main concepts of O-RAN and the background knowledge to study the O-RAN system.
Course Description:
Topics covered in this course include 5G Overview; Introduction to Open Radio Access Network (O-RAN); Fundamental Knowledge for Wireless Communications; RF Engineering; Baseband Technology; Functional Split and Open Fronthaul Interface (OFI); L2/L3 Stacks; RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC); and Network Management and Security. This course also teaches skills necessary for students to study an O-RAN system.
Outcomes:
1. Students understand and are able to follow the state-of-the-art 5G technology.
2. Students understand and are able to explain basic 5G O-RAN concepts.
3. Students are able to work in teams to study the open source codes provided by O-RAN Software Community.
Requirements
30 hour online course,30 hour self study,,30 hour assignment
Evaluation
1. Teamwork: 20 pt
o Self-introduction (CV, Slide) on Hack MD: 10 pt (Due: July 19th)
o Introduce your partner: Each one find a member and have a 5~10 mins. video to introduce YOUR Partner: 10 pt (Due: July 20th)
2. Daily Progress: 50 pt
o Q&A: 2 pt/day * 10 days: 20 pts
o Assignments: 30 pt
3. Final Project: 30 pt.
o Project plan and Progress Report: 1 pt/day * 10 days (July 19~28th)
o Final Presentation (July 30th): 20 pts
